Tate steps
evaluation-the subject is the woman climbing the Tate steps.We can only see her feet and ankles, but this is meant to be the case. There doesn’t appear to be any distractions, she is clearly the subject and secondarily are the shadows. The subject is in focus and the image well exposed with fairly high contrast. The colour balance is more muted than I remember.

fencing in Ally Pally- this makes me think of Paul Strand, high contrast picture in which shadows are the main subject.

shell on the worktop- the contrast here is low- gives a soft and gentle appearance with a shadow and a secondary shadow from water.

This exercises really interesting- out of the 36 photographs I produced maybe 6 which I would consider beautiful. I didn’t have quite enough kit- it would have been good to have more lighting options and also a chair to stand on to get a different view point. I think I could do this exercise repeatedly. Its an exercise that could be transferred to other subjects.
